Born and raised in Chicago, I have always loved playing music of some sort. I had a pair of drumsticks in my hand when I was about 4 years old, but really didn't get serious about playing until I was in my early 30s. I've played other instruments like piano, bass, trombone and guitar, but drumming and percussion became my obsession!

I call the style I use "modern" because I play a hand/stick method. I also play the traditional style as well, but with the demands of high energy grooves, you need more versatility, and the hand/stick method works wonderfully for that.

The biggest reason I love to play is because I like watching the audience dance to the beats I create. I can honestly say that playing percussion with the Smash Band is the most fun I've had in a long time musically.
