"Bam Bam" Steve Bivens, Drums
Steve joined the Smash Band in January 2003. He began playing while in grade school and received his first drum kit as a Christmas gift in 1966 while in the eighth grade.

His musical influences date back to the inception of FM radio and the "Album Oriented Rock" format of the late 1960s.  In addition to being a complete Beatlemaniac, Steve's musical persona has been molded by the rock of the 1970s, the likes of which include Led Zeppelin, Journey, Kansas, Boston, Styx, the Doobie Brothers, Heart and Steely Dan. His other musical tastes include modern jazz and blues.

"Probably my most significant drumming influences have been the work of Phil Ehart of Kansas and Jeff Pocaro of Steely Dan," says Steve. He also mentions that the Smash Band is a fun group of talented and dedicated musicians united to entertaining people and is delighted to have become a part of it.

Among Steve's favorite songs are "Song For America" by Kansas, "Kid Charlemagne" by Steely Dan, "A Hard Day's Night" by the Beatles, "Foreplay/Long Time" by Boston, and "Livin' to Do" by Journey.
