"St. Louis Diva" Rhonda Cathey, Vocals
Rhonda was born in St. Louis and was raised in Normandy, Missouri. Music was always a large part of her homelife, and her parents introduced her to various genres of music and dance. Rhonda studied the clarinet for 9 years, starting in the third grade. She also studied beginning guitar as a teen. Singing started at a relatively young age as she won talent shows as early as kindergarten. Both the clarinet and singing were major influences in her high school and college years, since she was part of the high school band, chorus and orchestra at both Normandy High School and Lindbergh High School. Although, she credits karaoke and shower singing as giving her the finest "band" experience over everything else.
"I've had the opportunity to meet with several individuals and bands who's style I admire, including Tony Toni Tone, C+C Music Factory, Timmy T, The Gap Band, Roger, Infamous, Smash, Paula Abdul, and Colour Me Badd, among others. Her greatest music influence, though, is her father, Samuel Cathey.
In her spare time, Rhonda likes to travel, shop and read. When jamming to her own music, you'll usually find disco, R&B, Funk or Pop in her CD player.
